Augusta Jane Rose Liffiton (1877 - 1891)

Both her parents had died by the time she was thirteen, and she died when she was fourteen. Augusta is buried in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

Details:

Also known as Elsie, Augusta Jane Rose Liffiton, was the first child of George John Liffiton and Emma LeMay of Ontario, Canada. She was born the daughter of a tailor on May 20, 1877, at Thorold Township, Welland, Ontario. The family moved to Seaforth, Ontario by 1878, as a second daughter, Georgina Amelia, was born there and died there in 1878.

Two brothers were also born in Seaforth, George Henry in 1879 and Richard in 1883, but just days after the birth of Richard, Augusta's mother died.

Seven years later, when Augusta was thirteen, her father died (December 12, 1890), and was buried at Seaforth. Augusta and her two brothers probably moved to Kingston, Ontario to live with relatives, because Augusta died there on April 2, 1891. She was buried at the Cataraqui Community Cemetery, Kingston Township, Frontenac County, by the Venerable John Ker McMorine, MA DD, of St. James Anglican Church. Her grave monument states “Augusta J. daughter of George and Emma Liffiton died April 2, 1891 in her 14th year” and “I am the resurrection,” as does her father’s monument.

The Cataraqui Community Cemetery is located at the corner of Highway #2 and Sydenham Rd, Kingston Township, Ontario, Canada. The cemetery office address is 927 Purdy Mills Rd., telephone number (613) 546-6545.
