John Lee Liffiton, born 1954 in the United States
On the English and English as a Second Language Faculty at Scottsdale Community College, Scottsdale, Arizona. He is also a board member of the Scottsdale Sister Cities Association, Secretary on the Executive Committee, World Affairs Council of Arizona, and a member of the Phoenix Committee on Foreign Relations. His branch of the family is descended from William Henry Liffiton (1875-1946) and Alice Jane Downey (1878-1959) of Farnham, Quebec, and after 1920 of Lakewood, Ohio. John and his family reside in Phoenix, Arizona.

John Liffiton has a BS in Anthropology from Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, Arizona, and earned his MA in Teaching English as a Second Language from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. He is a world traveler, having worked in the Peace Corps in Bukavu, Zaire; with Berlitz in Paris/Versailles, France; and with various US corporations doing business in Saudi Arabia. He has lived in and visited numerous other countries, most recently China and Morocco. One of his interests is military history, and he has written several articles based on his research.
