LIFFITON ICE HOCKEY

Canada's love for ice hockey began in the last half of the 19th Century and continues to this day. In those early years Liffitons played the game, and they also play it today. In 1902, Charlie played for the Montreal Amateur Athletic Association (MAAA), which won the Stanley Cup that year. In 1908, Ernie played for the Wanderers, which won the cup. Artie Liffiton moved to New York City in 1899, and had several championship seasons in the first American hockey league. Pete , while not achieving the fame of his brothers, played for senior teams in the Montreal Hockey League from 1912 throuh 1916. Today, David Liffiton of Windsor, Ontario competes for the Hartford Wolfpack in the New York Rangers organization of the National Hockey League. And lest it be thought only Liffiton men play hockey, in 2000, Ashlee Liffiton plaayed goalie for the team which won the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Association's (OFSAA) Girl's Hockey "A" Division championship.
